Pers.بهرام گور Bahrām Gūr. Bahrām V. folgte seinem Vater Yazdigird I. nach dessen Ermordung auf den Thron der Sasanidendynastie und regierte von 420 bis 438 u.Z. Zu seinen militärischen Erfolgen zählen die Zurückdrängung der Hephtaliten und die Festigung der Grenze zum Römischen Reich im Kaukasus. Bahrām V. war außerdem bekannt, sich an vergnüglichen Aktivitäten zu erfreuen, insbesondere Jagen, was ihm den Beinamen gūr ('Wildesel') einbrachte. Seine Figur erfreut sich in Kunst und Literatur großer Beliebtheit, Erzählungen seines Lebens finden sich u. a. im iranischen Nationalepos „Šāh-nāma“ sowie in den Romanzen „Haft paykar“ von Niẓāmī und „Hašt bihišt“ von Amīr Ḫusrau.
