Arab. تل tall, 'Hügel', ist ein Siedlungshügel, der durch Reste – vor allem von ungebrannten Lehmziegeln – aufeinanderfolgender Besiedlungen entstanden ist. Viele dieser Tells waren mehrere Jahrtausende besiedelt, waren aber zu Haussknechts Zeiten schon lange aufgegeben. Einige bedeutende Ausgrabungsstätten befinden sich in der ʿUmq-Ebene, wie Tell Tayinat oder Tell Açana, die vom 3. bis zum 1. Jahrtausend v.u.Z. besiedelt waren. (SK)

Der Ortsname Batal Höyük findet sich unter anderem heute als Name einer Moschee und eines Ausflugslokals im Stadtteil Findanlık im Bezirk Şehitkamil im Westen Gazianteps (Balta, Nevin. Auf dem Gipfel des Dülük Baba Tepesi befand sich in der Antike der Tempel des Iupiter Dolichenus. Die 'Capelle', die Haussknecht an dieser Stelle erwähnt, war wohl ein islamisches Heiligengrab, das Humann/Puchstein 1882-1883 ebenfalls gesehen haben. Es wurde erst in der jüngeren Vergangenheit zerstört (Humann, Karl, und Otto Puchstein. Reisen in Kleinasien und Nordsyrien. Ausgeführt im Auftrage der Kgl. Zur Geschichte der alten, der Muttergottes geweihten, armenischen Kirche (Surp Asdvadzadzin Kirche) in Antep gibt es nur wenige Quellen. Zur Geschichte der alten, der Muttergottes geweihten, armenischen Kirche (Surp Asdvadzadzin Kirche) in Antep gibt es nur wenige Quellen. Die erste protestantische Kirche in Antep wurde auf Betreiben der Missionare der American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions (ABCFM) 1854 errichtet.
