Pers. شیراز Šīrāz. Die Stadt Schiras hat ihren Ursprung vermutlich in der Zeit der Sasaniden, offiziell gegründet wurde sie im Jahr 693 u.Z. 1766 erklärte Karīm Ḫān Zand Schiras zur Hauptstadt seines Reiches und unternahm einen massiven Ausbau derselben. Die Kadscharen verlegten die Hauptstadt nach Teheran, doch blieb Schiras Hauptstadt der Provinz Fars. Im 19.
